LUNA AND NALA

* Luna mixed color, Nala brown

These beautiful girls came to Angie’s Friends when they were only 3 or 4 months old. They were born to a dog who is chained in a yard and they never received any human affection or interaction until coming into rescue. Although Angie was not able to get Momma off the chain, she did at least get her spayed. Luna and Nala are still very shy but are learning to trust and love each other dearly.

This guy was found wandering the streets of west Dallas all by himself when he was only a few months old. He was desperately searching for food. Fortunately, Nugget is a smart, friendly pup and he came right to Angie to get rescued! This sweet boy can still be shy in the beginning, but opens up if given a chance. Nugget would be a wonderful and devoted family pet.   He’s good with kids and other dogs.

SHADIE

Shadie is a silly Catahoula mix and is 3 to 4 months old. This cute pup wandered up to the door of one of Angie’s friends one rainy day. Unfortunately, Angie’s friend couldn’t keep Shadie, but Angie was able to squeeze her into the program. Shadie is very social and loves people. This gal isn’t afraid to speak her mind on occaision. She’s good with kids and cats.

Style Card: Tanya Foster

Sukilynn Photography

Tanya Foster

We’re excited to highlight Tanya Foster on the blog today with this Style Card.  We loved learning a little bit more about her involvement in Dallas and what she’s looking forward to most this year.

S&S: How long have you’ve been in Dallas?

TF: 30 years

S&S: What do you do?

TF: Ha! That’s interesting question because sometimes I feel like a jack of all trades. I am the creator and editor of the lifestyle blog, FilmFashionFun.com.  I am also a non-profit consultant providing my clients with fundraising and special event consulting services. In my spare time I do a bit of acting (represented by The Campbell Agency) and a lot of volunteering (I am an active member of Crystal Charity Ball and a past ball chairman for the Cattle Baron’s Ball and Junior League of Dallas ball).

S&S: What are some of the charities you’re involved in and why they are important to you?

TF: Crystal Charity Ball - I love raising money for Dallas county children’s charities each year. It’s important to be involved with something that is greater than you and causes you to pause and think about your city. And, I think it is always important to give back. I am always involved with at least one charity. This year, my husband and I are the co-chairs of the Stars & Stripes Film Festival benefiting Sons of the Flag. This is a great new organization started by a Navy Seal that helps burn victims.

S&S: What are your favorite spring 2015 trends?

TF: Gingham, statement stripes and a little hint of the 70’s (think modern culottes).

S&S: What is your favorite aspect of Highland Park Village?

TF: I love that it is in my neighborhood and I can just pop on over when I need to. It’s got everything you need for shopping and dinning. And, you can go to the movies.

S&S: What are your top 3 favorite Highland Park Village boutiques and why?

TF: Ralph Lauren - I can always find something classic for me and buy gifts for the men in my life. Hermès - the perfect place for gifts, scarfs, accessories and more. Chanel - This is the Chanel boutique where I purchase all of my makeup.

S&S: What you are looking forward to most this year?

TF: Growing the blog to incorporate a lot more FUN. I hope that means travel so that I can share my experiences.

S&S: What’s on your spring 2015 wish list?

TF: Still working on it. Check in with me on FilmFashionFun.com and I will let you know. 🙂

FoundDog Day 2015

Instead of celebrating GroundHog Day, Highland Park Village is celebrating FoundDog Day 2015! There are so many dogs in need of a good home and on Saturday, February 7th you have the opportunity to take home a new addition to your family. Please join us and help support FoundDog Day.

We hope you can join us with Angie’s Friends and White Rock Dog Rescue.  We are excited to give all of these dogs forever homes at this upcoming event at Highland Park Village.  We are so grateful to the amazing volunteers who save these dogs lives each and every day.

About Angie’s Friends: Angie’s Friends was formed only 7 years ago, Angie Manriquez has she has been assisting stray and neglected animals in Dallas’ rougher neighborhoods for over 14 years and hasn’t slowed down a bit at 71 years old. She spends the majority of every day going house to house to feed, water, medicate, provide shelter for, and pat the heads of dogs that have extremely low quality of life, living on short chains in neglectful and abusive situations, never feeling wanted. Angie cares for stray and abandoned animals, getting them vet care and finding them loving homes. In addition, she helps many low-income families care for their animals, promoting spay/neuter, financially assisting with preventative and emergency veterinary care, and sometimes simply providing food to families who are struggling to feed their pets. A true advocate for animals, Angie is down in the trenches every day.

 Event: FoundDog Day

Date: Saturday, February 7th, 2015
