Weddings Done Well: Culinary Checklist

The big day is finally here, and that means packed schedules and full itineraries. Proper nourishment is key to getting all you have to accomplish done, so we’ve mapped out all the stops so you can get your culinary fixes at Highland Park Village before, on and after the big day.

Welcome Your Guests With a Local Touch
Give your out of town guests a Texas welcome by leaving locally made treats from Royal Blue Grocery in their guest rooms. A bag of Have’a Corn Chips and a jar of Guac with a Twist, accompanied by a couple bottles of refreshing, fizzy probiotic tea from Holy Kombucha are the perfect after flight snack.

Burgers and Beers with the Boys
K.T. Burger is the perfect spot for the guys. There, the groomsmen can enjoy burgers, tacos, steel-cut fries and a full bar in the laid back dining area or corner patio.

With over 15 beers on tap and a vast bottle selection, you have plenty of options for a cold brew at KT Burger.

Take Time for an Afternoon Pick Me Up
Snag that needed burst of caffeine or a refreshing cup of tea from Starbucks to get you through the eventful weekend. Take advantage of mobile ordering to make pick up a breeze.

Perk up with a grande caramel macchiato or cool off with a tall green tea lemonade. If you find yourself nearby after 12pm on Saturday or Sunday, opt for a glass of wine or craft beer instead.

This Tuesday, Highland Park Village was transformed into a magical carnival filled with the sounds of giddy children snacking on cotton candy, a hometown band and the twinkle of lights from an adorned Ferris wheel. Co-hosts Nasiba Adilova Mackie, Heather Washburne and Elisa Summers hosted designer, Stella McCartney and guests of all ages for a night to remember.

Stella McCartney not only brought the fun to the Lone Star State, but she also unveiled her new Rainbow Pop Falabella Handbag Collection. We got a chance to catch up with the designer about that and then some.

HIGHLAND PARK VILLAGE: Each color within the Rainbow Pop Falabella Collection represents a personality trait - Mist for calmness, Bluebird for confidence, Bright Purple for fun, Hot Pink for friendship, Cherry for love, Orange for playfulness and Golden Syrup for joy. Which color’s personality trait resonates with you the most?
STELLA MCCARTNEY: You know, they all individually come together collectively and I identify with each one of them in some way.

HPV: Your Falabella bag is so iconic - why do you feel this particular piece resonates so well with people?
SM: I think the design really captures all different sides of women. There is a timeless element to it. It’s very chic and the sloppiness of it is quite emotional and effortless. And at the same time it has the chain detail that has a hardness to it and an edge. I just find it has every little part of all of us.

HPV: How do your day to day experiences as a mother influence your designs for your children’s line?
SM: I think in the beginning it was very much that having kids you realize they grow out of clothes really quickly, they trash stuff really quickly and you want it to be their personality. I think there’s a stage happening at the moment where parents are dressing their children as a reflection of their own ego a lot of the times. So for me, I want kids to be able to love it, wear it, throw it in the washing machine and have it be a reasonable price point. I also want it to be something that is alive and cool, yet still kind of precious.

HPV: You are known for your collections being fur-free and leather-free. Why do you think you are one of the only luxury designers focused on building a sustainable and eco-friendly brand.
SM: This is my biggest challenge every single day when I go to work. To approach luxury fashion in this kind of way is unheard of, so it’s still very new, sadly. I work hard to do the best I can in making it not look like it’s a non-leather bag or shoe but it is very challenging. It’s very important to me personally so it’s how I’m going to always approach the business.

HPV: Being that you are visiting Dallas, what do you enjoy most about seeing your brand reflected in the Dallas lifestyle?
SM: For me, it’s always fun to see the variety - the different ages, backgrounds and sizes - and then to see the different collections and seasons come together on women that really enjoy the clothes. That’s really all I want.

Five Creeks Tavern To Open At Highland Park Village

five creeks

Highland Park Village is pleased to announce the opening of Five Creeks Tavern on September 1st, 2015. Five Creeks Tavern will provide a unique and casual dining experience featuring handcrafted Neapolitan pizzas, pasta made “in-house,” along with an extensive selection of wines from the cask, beers on tap, frozen Bellini’s and quality cocktails.

five creeks dallas

A home-grown dining concept from Park Cities natives and creators of Katy Trail Ice House, Katy Trail Ice House Outpost, Bandito’s Tex-Mex and KT Burger, Five Creeks Tavern is a new American restaurant and bar named for the five original creeks that make-up the present day Turtle Creek. Buddy Cramer and Ben Ralston continue to expand their portfolio of Dallas area staples by creating yet another original neighborhood-dining destination. The casual and inviting space includes two separate outdoor patios overlooking Highland Park Village, perfect for guests to watch games or sip cocktails, two tap bars, a lounge area and comfortable family dining for lunch and dinner open seven days a week.

“Whether you are watching a game with friends, or out for a spontaneous dinner with the family, Five Creeks Tavern provides a memorable dining experience in the beautiful and convenient setting of Highland Park Village,” said managing owner, Buddy Cramer.

Five Creeks Tavern will specialize in authentic Neapolitan pizzas cooked to a crisp perfection in a Northern Italian 900 degree wood-fire oven, pastas made in-house daily, artisan paninis and daily specials prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients. In addition, cheeses will be handmade on-site and fresh salads, custom appetizers and a selection of gelato for dessert will be offered.

The restaurant will also feature an extensive variety of drink options with 16 taps of wine served from the cask, a wide selection of craft beers and specialty cocktails, including Bellini’s, made according to Harry’s Bar recipe in Venice. Weekly happy hour specials will include wine, beer and savory appetizers.

“A neighborhood family gathering place like Five Creeks Tavern is extremely important to us. It will be the perfect destination for multiple generations to enjoy and experience for years to come,” said managing director of Highland Park Village, Ray W. Washburne.

Five Creeks Tavern will reside at 32 Highland Park Village, located next door to the Village Theatre.
