Tory Burch in Fast Company

This week, there’s an excellent article on fashion designer Tory Burch in Fast Company.  As the Business of Fashion writes, “This is what passes for Tory Burch’s happy dance. In 2014, her company will post more than $1 billion in revenue just 10 years after its public debut. Nobody in recent memory has built a fashion-and-lifestyle business as quickly as she has.”  Burch credits most of her success to telling her own story – that of her family and their travels and what she knows as a friend, mother, daughter, and excellent hostess. Behind the Scenes of the Fall 2014 Highland Park Village Magazine Shoot: Garden of the Gods

1. garden of the gods

The Fall 2014 Highland Park Village photo shoot took place at Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. These stunning, almost otherworldly sandstone formations are among the oldest rock formations in North America dating back more than 300 million years.  Why Garden of the Gods? The park was named in 1859 by two pioneers who considered these rock formations a place fit for the gods, hence Garden of the Gods. Almost 100 years later a married couple from Texas purchased a considerable amount of land with unobstructed views of the Garden of the Gods and Pike’s Peak to create a private club and resort for guests.  Margaret and Al Hill were those visionaries who built Garden of the Gods Club and Resort and are the beloved grandparents of Highland Park Village co-owners Heather Hill Washburne and Elisa Hill Summers. The extended Hill family grew up spending summers there with their families and, in fact, still do today. The sisters, inspired by their memories there, chose this venue to meld the past with the present and the end result is Avant Garden, the fashion editorial story for fall 2014.

Introducing Trina Turk Bags

The collection interprets California Modern into “Essentials” and “Luxe” bags that work from desk to dinner. “Essentials” are modern totes, satchels and cross body silhouettes in soft Nappa and supple pebbled leather, along with shiny goat and haircalf. The chic simplicity of texture mixes and neutral toned color blocking works with any look. “Luxe” are day-to-evening bags and clutches in metal mesh, soft leathers and vivid haircalf with accents of wood, resin and metal. Discrete touches include signature hardware, jacquard trellis lining, and our iconic Trina Turk clip tassel.
